{"id":9832,"date":"2020-11-19T17:15:07","date_gmt":"2020-11-19T16:15:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.e-takescare.com\/?p=9832"},"modified":"2024-12-16T11:37:32","modified_gmt":"2024-12-16T10:37:32","slug":"comment-prendre-la-temperature","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.e-takescare.com\/en\/blog\/connected-health\/comment-prendre-la-temperature","title":{"rendered":"How to take the temperature ?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Rectal thermometer<\/span><\/h2>\r\nThe rectal thermometer is the <strong>reference tool<\/strong>, as it is the measurement site where <strong>the body temperature is highest.<\/strong>\r\n\r\nHowever, this technique has a number of disadvantages:\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Its invasive nature: it is in fact poorly tolerated by many children, and little appreciated by parents,<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Its thermal inertia: the rectum reflects variations in the central temperature with a delay of 30 to 45 minutes,<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Its accuracy depends on the depth at which the thermometer is inserted,<\/li>\r\n \t<li>The presence of stools can disrupt measurements.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\nSome risks must be taken into account: rectal perforations have already occurred, and without proper sterilization techniques, rectal thermometry can spread contaminants often contained in the stool.\r\n<h2><strong><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Axillary thermometer<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\r\nUsed in first-line maternity, the axillary thermometer is easier, more hygienic and just as reliable as a rectal thermometer.\r\n\r\nIt is the temperature of the axillary artery that is measured with this technique. On average, the latter is 0.6 to 0.7\u00b0C lower than the rectal temperature, when the arm is properly closed.\r\n\r\nThis technique is recommended by <em><strong>the American Academy of Pediatrics<\/strong><\/em>, among others, because it is practical and comfortable, regardless of the child&#8217;s age.\r\n\r\nThe armpit is also the best place to<strong> continuously measure temperature<\/strong> with patch <a href=\"http:\/\/www.e-takescare.com\">thermometers like Tucky<\/a>.\r\n<h2><strong><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Oral thermometer<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\r\nThe mouth is the most accessible place to take the temperature. However, the result can be distorted by various factors:\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Recent ingestion of food or beverages,<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Breathing through the mouth,<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Failure to keep the mouth closed for 3-4 minutes.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\nThe language must also be lowered during the measurement period, which is a difficult task for children to perform. This measurement method is therefore not recommended for young children.\r\n<h2><strong><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Ear thermometer<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\r\nThe eardrum channel offers a very fast temperature reading, but the infrared probe of the thermometer must be able to access the eardrum directly, and several factors can disturb this access:\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Presence of a earwax plug,<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Eardrum too narrow (this is why this method is <strong>not recommended before the age of 2 years<\/strong>),<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Incorrect position of the thermometer due to the child&#8217;s movements,<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Use of a dirty probe, impermeable to infrared rays.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\nThis technique will also be ineffective in cases of otitis media.\r\n<h2><strong><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Temporal thermometer<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\r\nThe temporal temperature is measured with a <strong>specific infrared thermometer<\/strong>. This is placed at the temple level, in the extension of the eyebrow. At this point, the result is 0.2\u00b0C below rectal temperature.\r\n\r\nThis measurement method is fast and convenient, but it is controversial because it requires very precise positioning and distance. Celle-ci est en moyenne 0,6 \u00e0 0,7\u00b0C plus faible que la temp\u00e9rature rectale, lorsque le bras est bien ferm\u00e9.\r\n\r\nCette technique est recommand\u00e9e par entre autre \u2019<strong><em>American Academy of Pediatrics, <\/em><\/strong>car elle est pratique et confortable, quelque soit l&#8217;\u00e2ge de l&#8217;enfant.\r\n\r\nL&#8217;aisselle est \u00e9galement le meilleur emplacement pour mesurer la <strong>temp\u00e9rature en continu<\/strong> gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.e-takescare.com\">thermom\u00e8tres patchs<\/a>\u00a0comme <strong>Tucky<\/strong>.\r\n<h2><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Thermom\u00e8tre buccale<\/span><\/h2>\r\nLa\u00a0bouche<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>est l\u2019endroit le plus accessible pour prendre la temp\u00e9rature. Cependant, le r\u00e9sultat peut \u00eatre fauss\u00e9 par divers facteurs :\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Ingestion r\u00e9cente d\u2019aliments ou de boissons,<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Respiration par la bouche,<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Non maintien de la bouche ferm\u00e9e pendant les 3-4 minutes.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\nLa langue doit \u00e9galement \u00eatre abaiss\u00e9e pendant le temps de la mesure, ce qui est une t\u00e2che difficile \u00e0 r\u00e9aliser pour les enfants. Cette m\u00e9thode de mesure n&#8217;est donc\u00a0<strong>pas recommand\u00e9e chez les jeunes enfants<\/strong>.\r\n<h2><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Thermom\u00e8tre\u00a0auriculaire<\/span><\/h2>\r\nLa voie tympanique offre une prise de temp\u00e9rature tr\u00e8s rapide, mais la sonde infrarouge du thermom\u00e8tre doit pouvoir acc\u00e9der directement au tympan, et plusieurs facteurs peuvent perturber cet acc\u00e8s :\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Pr\u00e9sence d\u2019un bouchon de c\u00e9rumen,<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Tympan trop \u00e9troit (c\u2019est pourquoi cette m\u00e9thode est\u00a0<strong>d\u00e9conseill\u00e9e avant l\u2019\u00e2ge de 2 ans<\/strong>),<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Mauvaise position du thermom\u00e8tre du \u00e0 des mouvements de l&#8217;enfant,<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Utilisation d&#8217;une sonde sale, imperm\u00e9able aux rayons infrarouges.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\nCette technique sera en outre inefficace en cas d&#8217;otite.\r\n<h2><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Thermom\u00e8tre\u00a0temporal<\/span><\/h2>\r\nLa prise de temp\u00e9rature temporale s\u2019effectue avec un\u00a0<strong>thermom\u00e8tre\u00a0<\/strong><strong>infrarouge<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>sp\u00e9cifique<\/strong>. On place celui-ci au niveau de la tempe, dans le prolongement du sourcil. \u00c0 cet endroit, le r\u00e9sultat obtenu est inf\u00e9rieur de 0,2\u00a0\u00b0C \u00e0 la temp\u00e9rature rectale.\r\n\r\nCette m\u00e9thode de mesure est rapide et pratique, mais elle est controvers\u00e9e car n\u00e9cessite un positionnement et une distance tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9cise.
