Back to school in France, Spain and England

Goodbye holidays ! Hello back-to-school time for children ! It is in an unprecedented sanitary context that millions of French, Spanish and British pupils are going back to school. To limit the spread of the virus and reassure parents, pupils and teachers, governments are getting organised and are submitting their health protocols. If they agree on the need for a return to school, they are distinguished by the measures announced.

Is going back to school mandatory?

Yes, with the exception of:

  • Children who have symptoms 

  • Children who have been in contact with somone who have symptoms

  • Contrary opinion of the attending physician

 

Will my children have to wear face coverings?

Pupils over 11 years old have to wear face covering.

Your child will have to wear face covering:

  • In classrooms

  • In corridors 

  • During breaks

Pupils over 6 years old have to wear face coverings. 

Pupils over 11 years old  have to wear face coverings in school corridors in local lockdown areas. 

Pupils do not need to wear face coverings in classrooms. 

 

SHOULD SCHOOLS APPLY SOCIAL DISTANCING?

Social distancing is not mandatory.

However, it is still recommended when it is materially possible.

For middle and high school students, social distancing is mandatory. Indeed, the tables in the rooms are spaced 1.5m apart.

For kindergartens and primary schools, "bubble" groups are created. The aim is to limit contacts. Contacts are possible only within the same "bubble" group. 

Social distancing is not mandatory.

However, it is still recommended when it is materially possible.

 

HOW OFTEN SHOULD STUDENTS WASH THEIR HANDS?

Students must wash their hands at least:

  • When they arrive at school

  • Before lunch

  • After going to the toilets 

  • Before going home

WILL YOUR CHILDREN’S TEMPERATURE BE TAKEN AT THE ENTRANCE OF SCHOOLS?

The temperature will not necessarily be taken at the entrance of the establishment.

However, it is recommended that parents take their children's temperature regularly.
